WLW Soccer Club: Recruiting Players

One of the hardest parts of launching a new soccer club aside from everything from marketing to operations, it’s recruiting players. The toughest part is finding the positions you’ll need to fill, making sure personalities don’t clash and finding the best means to source players.

For our soccer club, the ethos is meant to be “a soccer club your parents couldn’t afford when you were younger” so we’re not looking for a super competitive player. Learning to identify the player personas you’re looking for at your club is the right way for us to figure out our recruiting strategy.

What we’re looking for:

  • Beginner players who want to play soccer and develop their skills
  • Intermediate players who’ve played in a few recreation leagues looking to play more competitively
  • Advanced players who’ve played in college or club in college and want to get back into playing at a competitive level

Our goal is to develop a player program with our coaching staff who were locking in over the next month and recruit players to the club by targeted marketing, better social media content and actively reaching out to leagues who may have players looking to join a club.
